The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.” (Sahih Muslim 1631). Sadaqah Jariyah is unique — the only deed that continues earning reward after death.
What Is Sadaqah Jariyah?
Sadaqah Jariyah means continuous, ongoing charity. Unlike regular Sadaqah which delivers a one-time benefit, Sadaqah Jariyah creates something lasting — a well that provides water for decades, a school that educates generations, or a masjid that hosts prayers for centuries. The reward flows back to the donor with every single use.
The Most Powerful Forms
Water provision is among the most recommended — the Prophet stated water is the best of Sadaqah. A single well can serve hundreds of families for 20 to 30 years. Funding Quranic education means every recitation by every student earns reward for the donor. Contributing to a masjid earns reward with every prayer performed within it, until the Day of Judgement.
Our Sadaqah Jariyah Projects
Compassion Fund has funded water wells in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and sub-Saharan Africa; established Quran memorisation programmes serving over 1,800 students; and contributed to three community learning centres. Each project is built for permanence — because your reward should never stop.
