Across West Africa, millions of families face food insecurity every day. In Senegal and The Gambia — countries with deep Islamic heritage and strong community bonds — hunger remains a daily reality, particularly in rural areas and among displaced families.
The Compassion Fund, founded by Sheikh Musa Drammeh — Co-founder and Chair of Halalan Tayyiban Holding and a prominent Muslim leader in the Bronx, New York — runs an ongoing food distribution campaign channelling donations from the Muslim diaspora in America directly to families in need.
What Your Donation Funds
- Monthly food parcels — rice, oil, lentils, and dried goods for families of 5–8
- Ramadan iftar distributions across mosques in Dakar, Banjul, and rural communities
- Emergency food relief for families affected by drought or displacement
- School feeding programmes ensuring children receive at least one nutritious meal per school day
Expected Impact
- 1,200+ families to be reached across Senegal and The Gambia
- 6 communities to be served — including Dakar, Touba, Banjul, and Serrekunda
- 4,800 children to be benefiting from school meal programmes
